Umeå with chosen site.
Site analysis. A park is often a sensetive area to build something in. In this case however, the park would benefit from the intervention of a combined food market and compost as the market attracts people. The essence of the park is kept and can thus be enjoyed perhaps even more than it is today. People would also contribute to the integrated compost which generate both heat for a local greenhouse and soil which is reinvested in the plantations of the park.
The food market sits next to the busiest pedestrian street in Umeå, which is essential. This particular 130 metre strech of the street is at the moment nothing but a pass-by area.
The food market has a permanent area with stalls open all year round and a temporary area which connects to the pedestrian street where there is room for an outdoor temporary market.

In the centre of the permanent area is where the compost-greenhouse symbiosis is located. This space serves the food market in the way that it engages the comsumer so that s/he can directly see the impact of produced food waste. The space has the potential of becoming the food waste hub of the whole of central Umeå.
