Experiments with Devanagari

the Alphabet
The meaning of the word was used as the concept and its various interpretations were depicted on the postcard. The outcome was printed on 4" x 6" postcards.
the Phrase
the Poem
A poem by Jāved Akhtar - Zinda ho Tum, was selected and represented using type.
The translation of the poem is given below

Move with eagerness in your heart,

The second exploration played more on the emphasis of certain lines which are repeated more often. It has a holstee manifesto feel to it.
This exploration depicts the concept of life by showing the contrast of black vs white
The Final exploration of this phase culminated in me using the lines of the poem to depict life, growth and flow. This was in my opinion the most successful exploration of the poem.
the Poem : Bilingual
For the second stage of the exploration of the poem, we had to using an english translation in conjunction with the devanagri version of the poem. The explorations in order were meant to have - first: emphasis on devanagri, second: equal emphasis on english and devanagri, third: emphasis on english.
The english word Alive is casting a shadow of "Zinda" which is still the predominant element due to its color.
The second exploration depcits a gradual transition between the two scripts and equal weight has been given to both scripts in the body text as well.
The third exploration uses the word 'Alive' as the anchor and the body text, still in devanagri is based around it.
the Merchandise
A diary cover using simple, straightforward text saying 'Memories' was designed. The 'Me' part was highlighted to signify the personal nature of the object.
Lastly a laptop sleeve was designed as part of the same assignment which was a bi-lingual play on the coloquial word - jugaad
