Indonesia's Batik Day 2021

A simple illustration to celebrate Indonesia's Batik Day in
October 2nd, 2021.
A spouted tool called canting is used to pour wax in the area intended to not be dyed. The more complex the pattern is, the higher the maker's skill.

"On October 2, 2009, UNESCO officially recognized the batik (written batik (batik tulis) and stamped batik (batik cap)) as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity from Indonesia, and encouraged the Indonesian people and the Indonesian government to safeguard, transmit, promote, and develop the craftsmanship of batik.[1] Since then, Indonesia celebrates "the National Batik Day" (Indonesian: Hari Batik Nasional) annually on October 2. Nowadays, Indonesians wear batik in honor of this ancient tradition." (Wikipedia)

Batik use are not limited only on apparels, it can also be used in bed & pillow sheets pattern, even home decor. I personally like to wear batik, either to go to formal occasion or just chilling at home. Fun fact: batik house dress and trousers are the most comfortable to wear at home.

So proud to have Batik as my tradition <3
