PROJECT SUMMARY

This project required me to design three different conceptual book covers. One that was purely typographic, one that was hand made using real materials, and one using the design (real or digital) of my choice. It was essential that we use at least one of the 7 design strategies introduced during a previous project: combination, isolation, physical, change of material, metaphor, and change of environment. In addition to this, It was necessary to design the cover conveying a main theme or message from the story, to help the author get the point of the story across. This was a great opportunity for me to stretch my creativity while still remaining within the bounds of the brief.
All three of my book cover designs, Designer's Choice, Handmade Material, and Typography.
Designers Choice: The design strategy used is Change of Material.  The themes of power and strength are found throughout the play,
as Prospero is controlling everything.
Handmade Material: The design strategy used is change of context. Control and manipulation are prevalent themes throughout the play.
Typography: The design strategies used are isolation and change of material. The themes being conveyed are strength, often depicted by waves;
as well as the power of words and language.
