Notre Dame HIV / AIDS African research trip.
Objective: Discover why 72% of HIV positive Africans were not taking the free ARV treatments.
Focus was on changing these statistics for the younger generation.
Original Hypothesis: Forgetfulness or fear.
Procedure: Conducted interviews in schools and homes in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Conclusion: Needed to break the cycle of not talking or teaching children about HIV due to
parental fear of the the stigma of having HIV.
Results: Created lower school educational programs to teach about HIV.
