A California businessman and resident, John Blazevich served in the past as the president of the Viva! Food Group. But he is best known as the founder, President and CEO of Contessa Premium Foods. He designed and built Contessa's Green Cuisine food plant, the world's first "green" LEED certified frozen food manufacturing plant, reducing daily energy use and CO2 emissions by 65%. Within a year from the plants opening, the operations achieved and became 100% carbon neutral.

John Z. Blazevich engages in many philanthropic activities and supports nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity. Recently, Habitat for Humanity, a worldwide humanitarian organization, helped the people of Ukraine obtain housing in nearby countries after they had to flee their country because of the Russian invasion.

The organization offered plenty of housing opportunities in neighboring countries of Ukraine, such as Romania, Poland, and Hungary. For example, in Romania, the non-profit foundation provided more than 1000 hotel accommodations and over 3000 travel kits. The main area where people can obtain these offerings is the Bucharest train station. Polish people and Habitat for Humanity also provided over 4000 mid-term household accommodations in Warsaw for people that couldn’t find a place to live.
