Adapted mouse
Tests and prototype for the realization of a mouse that adapts to any wheelchair, transportable by sea and compact
The challenge arose through a volunteering where they were looking for industrial designers to make a prototype that would help a particular person, but at the same time, everyone who needs it. The product had to be open source.
In our case, we worked with a graphic designer who had an accident at the age of 20, leaving him a quadriplegic. He already had a mouse through which he moved the cursor from the back of his neck and activated the clicks by blowing and sucking through pressure switches, but in a very homemade way.
What we did was make the bars rotate on each other to improve storage and transport. We also put all the mechanisms inside a casing for security reasons and we worked on technical issues that were within our reach (change of battery for battery, change of pressure switches for more current ones, among other things).
