The choices that I made during this project showcase my use of Adobe Illustrator’s tools well.  Specifically, creating outlines was an important aspect to this project as I used characters from the Hooligan font to create visual interest.  I was able to rotate, enlarge, and group the characters within the starbursts so that they are uniform individually and as a group.

Shape, color, and balance were of particular focus while I was creating this design.  Shape was important in creating the starbursts and the more geometric shapes containing text.  It was important for me to encompass a specific 1950s style.  The colors I chose express more skill and attention to detail as I chose these colors directly out of a 1950s Pyrex catalog.  These colors are accurate and showcase my skills in color theory and pairing.  In this design I showcase my skills in balancing the starbursts and the shapes at the bottom.

I deeply explored how I would go about this project before beginning.  I thought about the style, possible elements to include which fit the 50s style, and about the colors.  I went through a few different Pyrex catalogs of the 50s and found a color scheme which felt like it fit.  I spent a lot of time work through each element.

During this project, I felt it was easy to work within the original parameters.  There were certain elements such as the identifying characteristics, background of the font, and design inspiration.  These aspects only help to make this piece more fitting.

In the final design, there is evidence of my attention to detail in the starbursts, layout of text, color, and shape interactions.  The characters in the starbursts and the shapes in the background line up perfectly within themselves.  They also work together neatly in their individual clusters.  The text is lines up very carefully to be far enough away from the edge of the shapes, large enough to be readable, and not too close together.  I spent a lot of time working on the color and shapes to be just so.
