The design objective was to create an image of "the Forest taking over the Court," the overarching theme of the play as chosen by the director Laurel Fisher.
This is the first version. I used layer masks (in Photoshop) to hide and reveal different parts of two images.
Laurel asked for it to be less photographic and a little more dream-like. I decided to risk being cheesy and implemented one of Photoshops brushstroke filters. I thought it worked okay and didn't look too cheesy.
Laurel then requested bluebells as are commonly found in English forests.
The final version.
I wanted to explore larger type shapes and the interplay of negative and positive shapes. The typeface of the title is IM FELL French Canon Pro, and the surrounding typeface is of course Futura (which I love). I have recently fallen in love with all the FELL revival typefaces I found here: http://iginomarini.com/fell/the-revival-fonts/-- I use them everywhere.
