In 2021 I entered the SMTNG Studio Young Designer Competition; an annual pattern design competition for creatives under 25. My pattern came top 3 and was brought to life in the form of a 100% cotton throw.

The “Planted” blanket design was born out of a sketch I'd done with pen and paper. Leaves are my go-to things to draw - there’s something quite soothing and methodic about drawing them. The name “Planted” refers literally to the leaves, however it also bares the figurative meaning of staying grounded and finding my feet during this time of uncertainty. 

The design turned out to reflect themes of growth and new beginnings which were very relevant themes during that time of my life. The colour green, associated with life, renewal and growth, emphasises these themes.
