Paris is Burning, An American documentary film, Directed by Jennie Livingston (filmed in 1987)
This is a documentary that has totally been my main inspiration for my documentary because of how compact it is in terms of content, very informative. However, as I entered the ballroom event and got to know the person behind the event, it was quite clear that the political side this documentary, offended the community due to Livingston profiting of the ballroom scene and did not pay the people who were in her documentary. Some of the people featured in her documentary died shortly after and were not compensated for their participation in the film.

It was hard for me to still look at this documentary as inspiration because of the issues after it was released but without documentaries like these, people would never know what it takes for these balls to happen, as well as the struggle the community faces in order to have events.
Night Visions, Episode 1 - New York Vogue Scene, by THUMP
I was recommended by the creator of the vogue event I went to, and I loved how I was able to recognise some of the important people within the ballroom scene as well as how informative the video is, in such a small amount of time. I think that what they have captured in this video is really good and very sharp/clear, especially the lens they chose and how vibrant the picture is.
Post-production
Evaluation

Overall, I think that I have produced a good documentary, from the skills that I do have which is basic but I am glad I did not stray away from my original idea and went in full force and executed the idea to my best ability and I am proud of what I have achieved. However, I did change my storyboard because it would not work out the way I wanted it to because I had to establish what and where I am documenting about but I have enjoyed doing this project, even if it has been outside my comfort zone and has really tested me at times where I did not think I would produce anything. It has made me more ambitious to learn more about creating films and other little projects.
