The project had to be a centre for people in the 3rd and 4th category of age combined with social housing. The aim was to proposed a set up in which the residents hace control on their intimate space and can interact constantly when they are in the common spaces. In Bucharest, this kind of centres have a bad reputation of being closed facilities where people don’t have means of continuing the way of life they used to have prior to the centre. This project tries to bring the opportunity for people to continue their normal way of life, at least from a social aspect.
In this typology, the important aspect is the configuration of “public space” and “individual space”. The priority is to define the two aspects and to control the transition between them, and this project becomes a separation of intimate spaces and flexibility of the common spaces.
