Vacha dam is located in the Rhodopes, along the Vacha River, on the border between Smolyan District, Pazardzhik District, Plovdiv District. The dam wall is 10 kilometers southwest of Krichim and southeast of Bratsigovo, and the flooding is 12 kilometers northeast of Devin.

It is part of the Dospat-Vacha cascade. It is bounded by the highest dam in the country - 144.5 m. It is the largest dam on the river and among the largest in Bulgaria in general. It is about 10 km long - from the wall at the resort "Antonivanovtsi" to the flooding near the village of Mihalkovo.
The waters of the dam are used for irrigation of the Plovdiv field. The dam grows a wide variety of fish - grass carp, bream, white fish, grandmother, caracuda, mullet, perch, perch, catfish, bleak, sunfish, carp, redfish and pike. Therefore, it is a very famous place for fishing.
There are many pontoons with buildings in the dam, including a fish farm. Some of the pontoon houses are rented out and visited by holidaymakers and tourists in the summer. A water bike, boat or jet are main attractions around them.
There are good conditions for tourism along the shores of the dam. Holiday resorts and hotels have been established. The road Krichim - Devin passes by the dam. A good view of the area is revealed from the peak of St. Elijah.
