Ghats of Banaras
Banaras felt like a simulation with so much happening around me ALL THE TIME. The ghats or the steps leading down to the holy river of ganga is undoubtedly one of the best place to experience this simulation functioning at it's peak. The ghats start from Assi Ghat and ends with Raj Ghat. Each ghat having a different personality, character and story behind it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to capture the essence of them. Here is what I saw in and around the ghats of Banaras
This first picture is a favorite one as the light you see on the boatman's face is from the pyres burning in manikarnika ghat, which is the largest crematorium ghat in banaras. You can imagine the amount of fire required to create such light. This was clicked way past sunset.

Lights installed for a festival makes a northern lights lite for my subject sleeping on the boat
Time flies in these ghats with so much happening around you. You can just sit on one step and let Banaras take care of the rest, you can also sip on some great lemon tea to make your experience even more enjoyable. Hope you liked Banaras through my eyes.
