for my prop set i was assigned with weapons, basic but very fun with a lot of varied options both in style and type. once again i decided to go with the same colours as my previous projects and to incorporate the outerspace theme more i decided to add 4 point stars to each design.
for my research i basically wrote down a bunch of types of weapons and various visual detaills i noticed. even though swords are very common i wanted to have some unique twists on them and add in some less common weapons as well.
i wanted to try to make my designs have natural curves and a flow like feeling to them, all the while still looking solid. glow and scarabee wings were going to be a quite prominent factor in my designs.
these were my first designs. i put in as much variety as i could: bow and arrow, staff, swords, throwing knives, gauntlet, knuckles, regular knives etc.
after ruling out the ones i didnt find suiting i decided to do a vote to see what people liked best.

after the decision was made i did some simple grayscale.
grayscale is fun and all but i also wanted to make this look more like a set, so i coloured them all in the order of a reverse rainbow kind of, blue, violet, purple, red and yellow. skipping orange and green. i also made the stars shiney even though i thought i could never achieve that look in 3d....
making this in 3d was easier than i expected. i was also surprised that i only needed the front vieuws of all my weapons. the hardest part was the cloth spiral on the throwing knife and the third weapon wich you can split into two. a little disclaimer, i didn't have time to make a hand so it has been downloaded and posed by me.
rendering was done with a LOT of trial and error, since making things look glowy was something i hadn't done before.
i got a lot of positive feedback on these weapons, but also some critical ones. i made a lot of these weapons from the front so i got the feedback to not forget to add some detaills to the sides. last 2d-3d project i got the feedback to do better with my lights and thus i looked at more tutorials online to light my weapons better.
making this look glowing was very fun and i enjoyed adding the tiny sparkles everywhere
i somehow managed to make my sketchfab model glow too so i think its definitely an improvement over last time.
i hope you enjoyed looking at my project, dont forget to drink water today :)
