DIZAINA NODAĻAI 60 (eng. — 60 years of Department of Design) was an exhibition / happening which took place in March / April 2022 at the Art Academy of Latvia and was a series of events dedicated to the celebration of the department's 60th anniversary. All events led to the final gathering — the closure party and opening of a book “LMA Dizainam 60”.
As at significant celebrations, all guests of the celebration — those interested in design education, Art Academy of Latvia teaching staff, current and future students, researchers, graduates — are invited to a common table, which serves as the central and unifying element of the exhibition. In addition, through practical action, theoretical and poetic ideas, conversations and moments of silence, with the participation of all involved, a more conscious experience of the role of design and its imprints in everyone's life will be created.
Visual identity is rooted in the idea of the design process itself — sketches, flight of the mind, collages, and compilations of thoughts. To achieve authenticity — variable versions of the number “60” have been created by current students of the department.
