Canberra's Art Biennial Rebrand

Canberra’s Art Biennial Branding

PROJECT: Rebrand (Student Submission)

CLIENT: Canberra’s Art Biennial

BRIEF: Canberra’s Art Biennial partnered with the University of Canberra planning their 2022 festival and requested a rebrand to include a name change from ‘Contour 556’ to ‘Canberra’s Art Biennial’ with sub branding for each location (Contour 556, 606, and 656). They wanted to expand their audience for local and interstate visitors who enjoy arts and community events. They wanted to visually communicate their brand characteristics of joy, change and power in a professional style. Also to move away from contour lines within their existing branding.

SOLUTION: A brand overhaul with a unified, central brand identity. A primary logo with variations that are modular and can be used individually or together depending on the location and application. Each location has an assigned colour for unique identification. The abstract C monogram symbol on the primary logo uses eye catching colours which are representative of primary colours. The supporting CAB patterns represent how the biennial creates a frame to transform Canberra’s environmental landscape.
