Kijo: Seinen Horror Reads

The design task was to learn to 'curate' and research images and content for a magazine of our own design. We were to work with a grid system and complex layouts to create a publication efficiently while gaining exposure to this type of design.
Through these parameters, I have developed Kijo: Seinen Horror Reads. This publication is for girls and women who appreciate manga, specifically horror and thriller genres. I wanted to create a magazine that I myself would enjoy reading and want to pick up myself. In this special edition of Kijo, the publication is released in a
limited color palette: red, black, and white.

Shown above are the final mock ups for the list spread, cover, and featured article spread for the Winter 2022 edition.
The cover was the most important for me to nail down (left) so I spent most of my sketching time on perfecting that design.
