EXCHANGE MECCA
2018 | Dynamic Mutations-Sofia
Group Project
The year is 2318, the Earth’s finite resources have been depleted and the human race as we know it has been forced to transition from a linear model of extracting, using and disposing to a closed cradle to cradle system. Where after use, all biological and technical resources are fed back into a closed resource cycle to be used again. Increased globlisation and population mobility means Sofia has become a central meeting point of cyborgs from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The exhange mecca in Sofia is now an epicentre for people to meet, upcycle and exchange skills, services and resources. The form describes and signifies the 3 axes of migration from the two adjacent continents, which lead the cyborgs through different chambers of resource and cultural exchange before entering the main meeting point within the belly of the extended structure of the brutalist National Palace of Culture. The shaft of bio light that projects from central shaft acts as a beacon to guide and direct the cyborgs in their essential pilgamige to and from the exchange mecca.
