Enabling cyclists to plan & follow routes specific to their needs in & around the city of Winchester.
A system of signs to be used in conjunction with a route planner and website which enable cyclists to find routes around the city of Winchester safely & according to their personal needs. Users can look up different routes on the Winchester By Bike website & submit their own. They then draw out a personal route on their wipe-clean route planner. Signs posted around the city help users to stay on the right track without stopping to check their map, & provide a permanent signifier of the more important routes for people without a map, in particular safer routes & routes which are more dangerous for cyclists.
The Winchester By Bike website, showing all roads within the city which are known to be dangerous for cyclists. This information was collected through surveying local cyclists & using data from the Transport Ministry to find the location of accidents involving cyclists & pedestrians.
