This is my very first school assignment as a graphic design student. The challenge was to make a typographic calendar for the new year without integrating images or illustrations. The idea is based on the use of non-colors. Every color and shade has it’s own certain connotation and I wanted to avoid the association people have with certain colors. If you're thinking about the color red, you immediately think of Valentine, love, St. Nicolas, Santa, Christmas and all the other clichés. So it’s basically all about eluding color, so the essence/function of a basic calendar remains: the months, the weekdays and the dates. There's no distraction of color nor the lay-out. Transparency is more of a general feeling. I wanted to keep the design very small and sterile, nothing too loud or too big.
