Master's Interpretation Project
ART 102 - Fall 2021
Wildcard
For this project, we had to take a 1" x 1" square from an existing "master work" and disguise it in our own work. I chose the painting "The Nightmare" by John Henry Fuseli. To create this piece, I digitally created the square that I originally cut out and built around it, starting with color matching and seeing what forms came about from testing different things. I used a photoshop brush to have more texture that was similar to the original painting and created a semi-surrealist piece. I think branching off from the original elements of the square I chose helped give my piece some balance and four different elements throughout my work: the bubbles, the "space pretzels" plus the purple stripes, the red swirls, and the white wispy strings.
