Shelter Rabbits on Teal Background

Rabbits and Guinea Pigs are a social species. You should adopt two rabbits (either a spayed female and neutered male, or two same-sex rabbits) unless you have a ton of time to spend with your bunny. They are much happier when they have a friend. Their friends comfort them when they're stressed, they groom each other and cuddle together.
Ok, so this is not a rabbit, but a guinea pig in a giant coffee mug has to be included. :)

Adopt a rabbit  from your local shelter, don't support pet stores or farm stores. They obviously don't spay/neuter the bunnies like most rabbit rescues do, which means their rabbits may be territorial, harder to litter-box train, and aggressive.
Most of the time they can't even accurately tell the sex of these animals, which means they accidentally give you a breeding pair when you ask for two males or two females, adding to the overpopulation and homeless pet problem.
They don't educate buyers on proper care for these pets.
They keep them in inhumane conditions, like overcrowding them on wire floors that hurt their feet.
They sell inhumanely small cages, not species-appropriate habitats.
They're just trying to make money, at the expense of the welfare of these sweet animals.

Do not support the pet store breeding industry. If you want a small pet, please rescue one of the many that are available for adoption from non-profit rescue groups and animal shelters.

Our shelter also vaccinates the rabbits against a deadly disease that recently came to Utah (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Fever). We also microchip them since that is required by state regs when vaccinating against this particular disease.
