Avenir Poster Design

This poster project for my Typography class is to design a creative poster to sell a typeface to another interested designer. The typeface I chose was Avenir because I fell in love with its clean designs and humanist nature. Avenir is a type I'd be comfortable reading in for long periods of time!
One of my main goals of this poster to was to make good use of the negative space around my type, so that the typeface itself was the star of the show. Each type of Avenir is highlighted in the center of the poster (from top to bottom) demi, italic, regular, bold and heavy. The focal point is the center, and I used the designer's name to draw focus down to the information on the typeface.

Hierarchy was important to this project so that the eye would be drawn to the information in the correct order. If I did this right, a person would first look at the all the styles of Avenir, then be drawn down to the info. From there they'd jump up to the extra info in demi and finally, once they were sold on Avenir's useability, the price.

I tried to create a rule of thirds, but on an angle so there would be a little more interest, but legibility. One of the places Avenir is used is the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport, so I drew inspiration from that place when picking my colors.
