Milton Glaser Poster
Poster Design, Typography
After conducting research to better understand their body of work, the goal was to create a poster in the style of a famous designer and include a favorite quote by said designer. The famous designer selected for this project was Milton Glaser. The intended audience for this project were peer designers, for whom a presentation was also created, based off the research findings.
The presentation slides covered research on Glaser's background, his famous works and his lifetime achievements and accolades. After gaining a better understanding and appreciation of Glaser's body of work, several poster concepts were developed which incorporate elements from different pieces of Glaser's work. All of the concepts feature a common background design motif of flowing foliage.
The floral bouquet arrangement was inspired by the art nouveau aesthetic of Glaser's Mad Men title card. The layered, flowing filagree was influenced by the iconic Bob Dylan poster that Milton Glaser is known for. The muted, pastel color palette used was sampled from some of his famous work. The typographical arrangement was inspired by the logo for Glaser's personal design studio and is composed of a font designed by Glaser, Glaser Stencil.
