Swedish Love (Kärlek)
I love Scandinavian design and wanted to create a screen print showing the traditional Scandinavian heart with its interwoven squares. Combining the heart with the Swedish word for love, Kärlek, seemed like a natural progression. I decided to alternate the color or the text in order to mimic the heart.
Working with RS Harvey, we were able to pay close attention to the registration.
Using different papers for three separate editions allowed me to experiment with the way the ink changes when applied to different colored papers.
All prints are signed and numbered.
All aspects of the screenprinting process were done by hand. The papers were torn to size in order to keep a deckled edge on the sides, all paints were hand mixed, and the prints were registered and pulled by hand. This allows for slight variations which make each print unique.
