Illustration Projects

I utilized a series of markers alongside some pencil sketches in order to create this architectural building. I made sure not to do too much of the sketching in order to let the color do most of the talking in this project.
I ended with this beautiful, sketchy colored piece. I decided to utilize blue in place of black and various greys for the shadows in order to add a bit more of color, as otherwise in the reference image they were bleakly gray. I did a series of swirly marks for the sky in order to portray the bold, wild colors of a sunset, and went a bit more detailed with the statue in order to make it stand out.
This was another illustration project I did, only this one involved colored pencils over markers. I started off with a light pencil sketch, then slowly began to experiment with how well I could work with the waxiness of the pencils. I mixed a series of blues and greens, and used a white colored pencil as a way of blending it all together.
I did a bit more work into the right side of the piece, and found myself using a lot more blues and indigos on the right side than the left. Trying to work out the details of the rock candy was a bit challenging here, as giving them dimension already took quite a bit of time on the left side.
After I was satisfied with the crystal, I went in with the lettering. We were advertising a certain type of candy, and I decided to make the advert to reflect what image crystals usually bring: treasure. I used warm colors for the "Treasurous Treat" for contrast, and an old styled font to remind viewers of pirates back in the day.
