Your Book - Maggie Nelson's book - Bluets
For this post, I will be talking about Maggie Nelson and her book called Bluets. I was recommended to read this book because it would help me to understand as to why blue is considered a colour of sadness to humans. Even though blue is one of my favourite colours, I still want to understand how the colour is considered to be sad why people use it for sadness.

In Bluets, Nelson reflects that blue becomes a medium which relates to the emotions of love, loss, depression and physical pain. But the book started off by saying it wants people's attention so that they can spread their love and in return, people would spread their love towards the book.

Nelson goes on by confessing that she had fallen in love with a colour while shredding a napkin as she was speaking. She then said that her love for the colour started off as appreciation and it became more serious. She revealed that blue was the colour she fell in love with and went on to describe that falling in love is almost like falling under a spell for which I personally think that as well.

As revealing that she's in love with blue, Nelson also mentioned that she was in fact lonely as well and Nelson herself knows that she experienced that feeling. She described it as a hot pain and if it stays hot enough, it can simulate or provoke.

With the book, I did understand as to why blue is a colour people use for sad emotions. But at the same time, I feel I need more information that would make me understand more about the colour. As I mentioned earlier, blue is one of my favourite colours because it reminds me of the blue sky. Whenever I look at the sky, I just think of something fun or positive and it gets me in the right mood for the rest of the day.
