Unicorn Project - Social Media Platform Branding

The Unicorn Project

Projekt Jednorożec (eng. 'Unicorn Project') was a university task to come up with an idea of a local startup, which would serve in a culture/media field. The area covered is the city of Łódź in Poland. As a response, a group of students thought about creating a social platform that would allow users to exchange used goods, such as games, books, comics, and at the same time get to know each other, communicate via chat, and post on the forum. The name 'Unicorn Project' refers to the city of Łódź which started to be unofficially called 'a city of the unicorns' by its residents. It has become so popular, that today you can purchase unicorn-related souvenirs in gift shops on the main street in Łódź.

I was asked to design the visual identity system, which consists of logo and colour scheme, web and app design, posters, and merch. The request was to refer to a location and target it towards young people, as well as make sure that the project stands out and catches the attention. I decided to use vibrant colours, which both refer to the titled Unicorn, as well as the official Łódź colour scheme (logo of the city is modern and consists of blue, yellow, pink, black).
