Airstream Dealer Locator

Airstream Dealer Locator
Airstream is an American brand of travel trailer (or RV) easily recognized by the distinctive shape of its rounded and polished aluminum coachwork. They've been around since 1935 and even helped NASA put astronauts on the moon.

Scope:
Modernize and improve the user experience of Airstream’s Dealer Locator.

Process:
I started with wireframing the first screen, looking for ways to really focus in on the key options and user journey. I knew we wanted to leverage a mapping solution, so I started with a filtered search UI.

The second screen I explored was the results page. I knew I wanted to emulate location design patterns like what Google Maps and Starbucks used. I explored what information might populate, what filters might be available and what interactions with place pins might look like.

Simplify & Focus: Working with the Airstream team, we were able to greatly narrow the main form to three service choices and a zipcode.

Mapping Solution: We introduced Mapbox, to give more geographical context and even create a branded map. We went with a vintage american look, using de-saturated colors to reference Airstream's heritage.

Mobile-Friendly: The original dealer locator was not responsive or easy to use. This was a definite must for the redesign.
