This is a craft documentation of the lost-wax technique of bronze casting. It is practiced by masters of sculpture of the Swamimalai, Kumbakonam region of Tamilnadu. It is a traditional craft followed since the 17th century and is in the Chola style of aesthetics. The icons crafted are based on the scriptures of Shilpa shastra (science of sculpture).
The book URUVAM is the outcome of a classroom project, for which i worked along with my friends Nirubhama V and Malavika S.
