For my Wood I final I was tasked with a choice: using bent lamination, make either a hand mirror or a "rolling object" that is capable of smoothly going down a ramp. Having an affinity for cars, I chose the "rolling object."
The Swoop Car is loosely based off of vintage Bugattis. Bent lamination lends itself to graceful, flowing forms and I wanted my final car to celebrate that classic aesthetic.
Here are the bent laminations right out of the wooden block mold.
