7 Creative Strategies Art 235

7 Creative  Strategies Project Art 235
The first project for my Art 235 class was to select a simple object and use it to convey each of the 7 creative strategies in 7 different images. The creative strategies are Combinations, Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphor/Simile, Change of Context or Environment, Physical/Shape Similarity, and Material Change, Swap or Focus. I used visual audits, written brainstorming, sketches, and visual experimentation to help develop my concepts.
COMBINATIONS
For this strategy I combined two unrelated items together to make a new object that works together.
JUXTAPOSITION
I used a watermelon and a hand grenade to contrast the differences between the two similarly shaped objects.
ISOLATION
The watermelon is separating from the similarly shaped balloons to show that it doesn't really belong.
METAPHOR/SIMILE
This image is showing the meaning of the metaphor "you are what you eat" as the watermelon is substituted in for Pac-Man and he is about to eat a watermelon slice.
CHANGE OF CONTEXT OR ENVIRONMENT
The watermelon which is not usually found at a football game is highlighting how similar in shape a football and watermelon are.
PHYSICAL/SHAPE SIMILARITY
I used the slice of watermelon to show the similarity in shape to a piece of pizza that usually do not go together.
MATERIAL CHANGE, SWAP, OR FOCUS
I swapped the tough rind of the sweet, juicy watermelon for the softer, able to be squeezed peel of the sour lemon.
