Graphic Design: Project 01 - 7 Creative Strategies

For project 01 we were instructed to chose an everyday object that is recognizable and easy to understand. The point of the project was to take this every day object and integrate it into the "7 Creative Strategies": Combination, Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphor/Simile, Change of Context or Environment, Physical/Shape Similarity, and finally Material change/Swap/Focus. My choice of object for this project: a multi-purpose lighter.
For my combination image representing combination, I achieved this by combining two objects that are nothing alike or related at all. I thought the lighter would be a great representation of the prop for the baby grand lid. I helps remind one of how fast hands can also play the piano "Hot tunes".
The multi-purpose lighter for juxtaposition shows contrast well with the fishing rod as water and fire don't go well together. The rod is trying to catch fish (possibly even "fire fish" but it's the hottest rods the title suggest for 2022) and the lighter nor would you find near the water. They aren't related but you can see how these two would work well for juxtaposition as opposing/contrasting objects other than if the fishing "on fire" so to speak, and the title helping to carry that out in words.
Isolation as a creative strategy was a little easier than most for the image below. I felt I achieved isolation in the image by showing with the title as well, that it looks isolated as a whole picture. There is nothing around but the fence and the one object represented as being isolated is the lighter. It is the only one of is kind amongst the rest of the fence post. The title shows us as well with the fence being the defining boundary and the one thing that is helping it is the fire protection of the lighter as the barrier and being the main focal point front and center.
The shape of the airplane fit well with the multi-purpose lighter for the creative category of metaphor/simile. I used the clone stamp to create more blue sky where the title was making it more visible. By using it to still keep the clouds helped it to still achieve a natural look keeping the image cohesive and not taking away the main point of the metaphor/simile. The title is important as it portrays a message that any airline could use in an advertisement as well as there is no smoking on flights. Overall I fell these two objects portrayed well the category of metaphor/simile.
In the creative category of "change of context or environment" the plants and the lighter fit well together. The lighter depletes instantly needed oxygen with the instant flame, while the provides instant oxygen within its environment. These two items don't generally go together but they help portray the one important thing we all need in life and to have in our own homes and that being oxygen.
The smoke stack with the large plumes of cloud seemed a perfect match in the category of physical shape and similarity. I felt I achieved the instant and industrial found in the title matching the image of the smoke stacks as a creative possibility to show what the two images combined can do. I did use the clone stamp with parts of the sky and the smoke coming out in plumes as the original smoke stacks were larger and the smoke came a little lower. I created a more natural look by doing this to go along with the skinnier multi-purpose lighter when I created the layer on top of it.
For material change, swap, or focus I new the right away that I wanted to use a tennis racquet handle. The title was the easiest part to come up with for this particular creative strategy due to the multi-purpose lighter representing fire and/or things that start fires (matches). Matches are also what tennis players play and they score match points. I felt that even though it's a lighter the point will still be able to come across visually. Although this type of racquet isn't seen that often it worked better than the traditional one for the creative strategy image here.
