It was that time of year.

The time of year when the rancher had to bring his cattle out of the high country to his property in the low country.

The snow was going to start flying. Feed would become scarce in the mountains pastures.

Risks to the cattle would be increased.

He was glad that it was a later than some years.

Feeding the herd of cattle hay through the winters becomes a very costly endeavor.

Rounded up and loaded into the stock trailers they had been transported down to his property in the valley.

Now the cattle were gathered into one place, it was the perfect time to do the needed wellness checks, and do the branding on the new calves that had been born in the last little while on the mountain pastures.

I was brought into this project by one of the owners of Ride N' Rope as she was testing a new pony during the Rocking VS branding to see how it reacted.

We do their promo shoots when they have horses ready to find their new homes.
