Watercolour Exhibition Poster and Cards

By the Water's Edge
Assessment for 1st Year Visual Communication Projects

Poster design for a fictional watercolour exhibition in Newcastle, Australia, for a first year Visual Communication Design project at University.

Development and Design Process

There was a lot of brainstorming and development involved in coming up with the design for the poster.
Experimentation of photoshop ideas for the poster. I decided to go with an illustration instead of the photoshop ideas since I wanted to give the impression that the exhibition was about watercolour by incorporating it.
The many drafts of the poster when the original name was Aquarelle. The name changed because it was too hard to determine what the exhibition was about.
Many drafts were created when creating the illustration of the Newcastle harbour for the poster. Making the digital illustration look like watercolour proved a challenge, but became achievable.
I also experimented with the artist cards that would be displayed next to each piece of their work at the exhibition. I wanted to use the main illustration in it, but still wanted each card to have some sort of visual difference. The 4 cards below did not make the cut.
