I N T U I T I V E  PAINTING

Creating intuitively is an opportunity to explore the self through playful and judgement free engagement with the creative process, experience presence as fully engaged existence in the moment, and meet ourselves exactly where we are.

This Project is the photo documentation and diary of an intuitive painting session.
The goal was, to create a playground, a place for free experimentation where the things Jean (the participant) was afraid of doing otherwise, can be experienced in a safe environment.

It was important to create an enviroment in which Jean felt comfortable.
According to her preferences, we reused materials, such as the large bedsheet for a canvas, and made our own paints out of berries, beetroot, colorful spices and charcoal.
The rigid processes and norms of life we are born into can easily drive us away from listening to our own voices, and the first step on the path to find our ways back to our authentic selves, is to learn to distinguish our voices from those of others.

To learn to hear it clearly, and than to allow it to manifest through the way we think, speak and act.
Through play, withouth confines, we practice allowing our intuitions to drive our decisions, we get to experience what we are like, when the goal of our activities is purely to enjoy them.
The more we engage in play (intuitive engagement with the creative process through any medium), the more confortable we become with experimentation, with not knowing, and we start to grow a connection to our ability to listen to ourselves, and start to bring this cultivated presence into every conversation, every moment of every day.
Feelings of sadness, helplesness, anxiety and depression are all states of being in which we are deprived of our ability to feel grace and appreciation.

In those states it can be extremely beneficial to engage with creativity, since it has all the patience, and all the tools necessary to help us through and out of these dark places in life.
