History Made with Love
In developing the visual identity for the 25th anniversary edition, we focused on two directions in the brief as reflected by the slogan as well – the festive emphasis on the history of the event and love as what is making this continuity possible.
We approached the notion of love as core motivation for all the people involved with the festival and with music itself: from Enescu’s passion for music and by extension composers’ passion for music to the determination of musicians, the vision of conductors, the dedication of the crew of the festival and the invested audience – all these relations to music are essentially facets of love. We referred to this large and various community of music lovers of all kinds and from all times by morphing 3D particles into a texture reflecting on this community as connective tissue, as constellation. Luminescent dots traveling on lines evoke individuals playing a part in this constellation as well as sounds / notes in a musical notation.
In order to capture the element of love as connective tissue in relation to the celebration of the history of the event, we decided to depict the intimate moment of the actual physical contact between the musician and the instrument (focus on the touch between finger and chord / key). Each series of events illustrates the encounter with a different instrument.
