This is a painting that was inspired by the day of the dead. We were told to represent the holiday and I accomplished this by including specific things that relate to the holiday. It is a tradition to leave food and flowers at the graves of the family members who died. This illustration portrays the ghost of a woman near her grave. The night is over and her loved ones have left behind marigold flowers and a lantern. Marigolds are significant because they guide the spirits to their altars using their vibrant colors and also represent the fragility of life
