Memoirs of a house
Brief summary
This project required the to develop a unique concept for an adult book containing a series of short stories revolving around a fictional character. The book premise of the book must be drawn from the prompt 'moments after which everything was different'. To fulfil the brief, an editorial concept must be developed with a thematic strategy, genre, a complete original story the span of one chapter, and illustrations/photography appropriate to the concept.

Design strategy
Memoirs of a house recounts the lives of tenants who once occupied the house throughout the years since the it was established until its demise. Each tenant must navigate tumultuous times after pivotal moments change their lives. The house, who is the main character and narrator of the stories, is a sensitive character that recounts the stories of the tenants lives focusing on conveying emotion. This is achieved through the typography, which is a serif typeface with varying thickness and some sharp edges that draws on the unfortunate circumstances experienced by the tenants. The sensitive nature of the house is also shown through the illustrations. The illustrations are executed with ink on acetate, and the materials interact in a way that conveys the emotion.
