Metallic-Edges...
by Liebeskind - University of Luneburg
The spectacular building was created according to the plans of the world-famous architect Daniel Libeskind. The completion took place in 2018. This new center of the university is an ideal place for the connection of study, research and life, university and society.
With a height of around 37 meters and a usable area of 13,000 square meters, it is the dominant building on campus. The building is divided into four differently designed parts: a seminar center, a student center, a research center and an auditorium Maximum. The building has a total usable area of 13,000 m².
The seven-storey building with a total height of around 37 m will also accommodate modern multifunctional and exhibition areas. It serves both the city and the district of Lüneburg as a new city and congress hall and thus documents the central role of the university in public life and the high demands placed on sustainable use of the building.
Daniel Libeskind's inspiration for his design is based on the structural translation of the conviction that architecture has an influence on image and science. The building should stand for the upheavals, approximations, variables and contingencies that are indispensable for modern science in order to grasp reality.
Daniel Libeskind (born May 12, 1946 in Łódź, Poland) is an American architect and urban planner of Polish-Jewish origin. He is known for his multidisciplinary approach to architecture.
