This typography specimen book was apart of an assignment I had to complete for University. Many crucial elements contributed towards the development and creation of the type specimen book for the Adobe Classic typeface, Adobe Garamond Pro.
As Adobe Garamond Pro, by Robert Slimach,is a modern and optimised version of the
ancient typeface I wanted to display the new contemporary style of the serif typeface, but still, keep the typeface’s classical roots in my work.
When brainstorming how to construct the modern aesthetic of the specimen book, I came
up with the tagline, “a typeface fit for a modern king”, which I considered a perfect description of the delivery I wanted. The tagline was used as a general foundation behind all the design work in the document.
To effectively meet the “modern” aesthetic of the document, I implemented a 3D anaglyph filter to certain designs in the book. The idea behind this choice was to demonstrate how this typeface is a typeface that stands out from other serif typefaces, thus using a 3D effect would physically convey this.
