"Bota a cara no Sol" é um projeto autoral que nasce para expressar uma vontade minha que sempre foi barrada pela insatisfação com meu próprio corpo: a de ir a praia e torrar o dia inteiro na areia. Um costume tão valorizado pelas cariocas, do qual eu nunca consegui, efetivamente, desfrutar, por medo de estar sendo encarada e julgada. Os biquínis não vestem bem (ou eu não me sinto bem vestida com eles), e usar maiô não deixa marquinha. Desde criança, para mim, ir a praia foi sinônimo de me odiar. Quem são as cariocas? Quem são as mulheres que de fato estão nas praias do Rio? Entre bronzeadores caseiros, fitas isolantes para reforçarem as marquinhas e corpos de diversas cores, tamanhos e classes, a areia do Rio é bem mais diversa do que parece. "Bota a cara no Sol" é uma provocação, mas sobretudo um convite a todas as mulheres que já se sentiram constrangidas de se bronzearem.

"Bota a cara no sol" is an authoral project that comes out from the desire to get the perfect sun tan, a dream that I've always had, but since the day that I had conscience of my body type, I was very ashamed of it, and going to the beach became very challenging. Spending all the day at the beach in order to get the perfect sun tan is a very common thing to do at the weekends in Rio de Janeiro, city where I live. But I never could do it, because of the fear of being stared and judged. I've never been comfortable on a bathing suit, even the ones that hide my body, because they don't give me the perfect sun tan. Who are the women that are born and raised in Rio, and go to the beach every weekend? Between homemade sunscreen recipes and other tricks, and bodies that have different types, weights, histories and social classes, the beach sand in Rio is much more diversified than it looks like. "Bota a cara no Sol", that is a very famous expression in portuguese, used by queer people, is not only a way to instigate beach brands to being more plural on their publicity, but specially an invitation to every women that have ever felt ashamed to get the perfect sun tan.
