IOW 200.3 | Editorial Design: Cultivating ideas in the form of a manifesto (Contraception or Contreband?)

Project Brief:
The aim of this project was to introduce a new and ground breaking movement in the form of a written manifesto. Thereafter it was required that we develop a suitable headline and byline, as well as using a mood board to stylize the essence of the manifesto. Once those were developed the manifesto had to be typed out and a masthead and spread needed to be designed to visually convey the concept of the manifesto.

Deliverables:
01. Masthead/Cover
02. Double page spread
03. Process work

Design strategy:
Deciding between bias against people of colour in the medical industry, whether or not contraceptives should be made freely available and the notion that every girl should have unlimited free access to sanitary items, i eventually ended up going with the ground breaking movement of protesting for the fact that contraceptives' should be readily available, especially in impoverished areas, to anybody that needs/ wants them. Rethinking the colour palette and type, i decided to go with a mix of complementary colours to not only represent the connection women have with nature, but also to show the underlying message of the manifesto. As well as the imagery changing, the type was also altered to appear more as an advertisement, since the manifesto is essentially a call to arms.
