Delta Sander design project

For this project I worked in a team with a robotics student, a movement studies student and another Industrial design student. My main role in this project was helping with ideation, making models, making the Solidworks model and doing the layout and text for the user manual.

We started the project by analysing the similar products and finding their weak spots. We made the weak spots that we found into questions we could then use think of solutions. These solutions where than gathered and put together to make one concept. The concept we chose can be seen below.
After we chose our concept we started choosing our technical components and working on our model to get a grasp on the size. The model can be seen below.
After making the model we decided that handle was too long. So before we started putting the shape into Solidworks we sawed of the handle to the desired length.

Because we had determined the measurements and the shape we where ready to put our design into Solidworks using the surface modelling method. The result of this can be seen below.
After putting in the shape of the product we hollowed it out and put all our components in so we could see the fit. To finish the product we added the ribs, screw bosses and lip and groves to keep all the components in place.
After we finished the product we had to make a user manual. A few pages of the manual can be seen below.
