ALF Mug Illustration

Limited edition ALF mug, featuring a Pangolin and a Puff Adder (one on each side), two amazing species found here in South Africa. Pangolins, shy, gentle, and the only scaly mammal, are also currently the most trafficked non-human mammal. Puff Adders are a venomous viper species who are just really badass. You should read up on them.

The idea behind it: It bothers me that vegans and activists focus so much on “farm” animals, when “wild” animals are also constantly under threat, losing their habitats and going extinct faster than we can find them. But they are not seen and are therefore forgotten about. Even though they are a part of the Earth’s natural ecosystems, whereas us, along with domestic “tame” species, are not. If we ever actually had to achieve animal liberation, we would stop breeding domestic species and their numbers would drastically decrease within a really short time span. We would hopefully then create room for and allow the original wild species to repopulate and thrive. Which is why I think we should be putting more focus on habitat protection and conservation, for wild species, but through a vegan lens.

If you’d like one, drop me a message or email me on info@gatherdesign.co.za. They’re ZAR250 + postage.

I understand that not everyone buys prints but you can never have too many mugs. Remind yourself of who we’re fighting for with your steamy morning cuppa.
