UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE

Object Scanner FUI
Under the MoLab program at Jam3 I was able to take some time to work on a concept object scanner FUI. Initially it started as just a design in Figma that I'd prototype, but it ended up being much more as I wanted to make a brief 3D short as well.

To start, I designed a bootup sequence in Figma that I then brought into AE to animate. I did also attempt to create a prototype in Figma but found it quite challenging to complete with so many different elements involved. The bootup sequence consists of a 2-step login process which would then lead to a welcome screen that would then transition to the main UI which would later be used in the 3D short.

Part of the project I wanted to explore as well was to create a 3D object that the UI would display on. This would allow me to practice a bit of texturing and modeling. Something that was missing though was some kind of story. I initially had the rendered device on the desert ground, but then I was asked "why?" which prompted a story to give context as to why the device is sitting on the ground. With the concept of the UI design revolving around an object scanner, I figured maybe the device was dropped because a toxic chemical or substance was found and resulted in the explorer dropping the device from passing out.
