Juxtaposition Ver. 2

"Juxtaposition Ver. 2"

The reason I chose this project is because I had submitted version 1 to my professor. After seeing it, my professor corrected my thinking about how juxtaposition works. "Your purpose and result should be achieving something that demonstrates a more profound meaning and delivers a gentle yet powerful message," he said. So think of this as my second attempt.

"A Chosen Drink"

A cup of water is juxtaposed with an empty cup of sweetness.

I had an idea about how two drinks could be side by side but only one was ever touched. The idea was based on how the wrong choices are the easiest to consume and the right ones, although beautiful in their own way, aren't.
"Vice Versa"

A phone stand and a roll of toilet paper are juxtaposed...for their similarities?

The two subjects here have two things in common: they both have squares (or four-sided polygons) and circles. However, they both differ in that they have it in different parts of themselves. My idea for this is in how the world isn't in black and white (no pun intended). It's possible for someone, who doesn't look like it, to like something they normally shouldn't. And vice versa.
"An Artist's Journey"

A pencil is juxtaposed with a more idealized version of itself.

The two pencils in this photo represent the truth and the perception of that truth from those who haven't made that journey. The real pencil is broken, short, and fading, just like an artist that's consistently polishing his skills. As for the drawing of a pencil, it represents what is known about the artist by the public, their style, their talent, and their influence, but not really their hardwork.
"A Foggy Future"

A blank sheet is juxtaposed behind a recently finished page.

The lack of light and the foreground being dominated by a sea of drawings can make the clean, white sheet look almost unnoticeable. This ties into the idea that the future is uncertain for those that are trying to achieve something of value. However, it also opens new opportunities.
"Tower of Babel in the Red Sea"

A rising tape stack is juxtaposed beside a spread of lip tints.

One isn't necessarily better than the other here. The main idea I wanted to convey was the paths of the specialist and a jack of all trades. A specialist pours his time and effort into only one thing, rising in popularity and skill in nothing else. On the other hand, the jack of all trades is not as good as the specialist in that one thing but is more versatile because they are also good at other things.
