I never wanted to be a farm girl.
But it happened anyway.

After avoiding the familyfarm for much of my life, the gritty beauty and smooth workings of the agriculturallifestyle eventually drew me in. As a photographer, I document systems of organization in thisdisorderly, agrarian environment. From piles of tools and equipment manuals to rowsof machinery and supplies, the series, Stacked, dives beneath the grimy surfaceand discovers a natural grid structure essential to routine operation of thespace. A mechanical shop or storage shed provides endless documentationpossibilities, as I push myself to further understand and explore thisunfamiliar place. I am drawn to objects that have a sense of place and purposewithin this busy environment. The composition of the photograph may appearchaotic, but a system of order persists created by those that work on the farm.
