Canterbury
Canterbury Golf Club is a legendary 18 hole golf course and historic club located just ten miles southeast of downtown Cleveland, Ohio in the quiet suburb of Beachwood, Ohio. Canterbury was founded in 1921 by legendary English golfer and course designer Herbert Strong. During the past few months, I had the incredible and unique opportunity to photograph and explore this nationally recognized clubhouse and golf course. Canterbury has a rich history, hosting 13 major championships including the 1932 Western Open and the 2009 Senior PGA Championship. Canterbury is one of only two clubs in history to have hosted all five of the men's Major Championships that rotate sites (The US Open, PGA Championship, US Amateur, Sr. US Open, and Sr. PGA Championship). In addition, Canterbury has hosted some of the biggest names in golf history including Sam Snead, Henry Picard, Ben Hogan, Jack H.Way, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and many more. I invite you to explore the legendary grounds and clubhouse of Canterbury Golf Club and learn about this unique and historical place through my own personal photography, historical references, and in-depth interviews with some of the people that maintain and operate this historical course.
